The present Chief Minister of West Bengal, Hon'ble Mamata Banerjee, launched this Kanyashree Scheme. Kanyashree Scheme is a scholarship scheme for girls only. The main objective of Kanyashree Scheme is to improve the lives and conditions of girls by providing cash assistance to economically backward families, so that no family can get their daughter married before the age of 18 due to financial problems and to bring economically backward poor girls for higher education. Under this scheme, an annual grant of Rs. 1000/- (initially ₹500 in the primary years) will be provided to girls in the age group of 13 to 18 years and a one-time grant of Rs. 25,000 for girls in the age group of 18 to 19 years. Kanyashree Prakalpa 2025 Eligibility Criteria
Kanyashree Scheme is for economically backward girls, to improve the lives and conditions of girls whose families are financially backward so that they can pursue higher education. To apply for the annual scholarship, the age should be more than thirteen years and less than eighteen years and for one-time scholarship, the age of the girl should be more than eighteen years and less than nineteen years. To apply for this scheme, the girl should be studying in any registered institution like secondary, higher secondary, technical, vocational, sports etc.
(K 1) Annual Educational Qualification Assessment System:
- The student must be more than thirteen years of age and less than eighteen years of age.
- The student must be studying in at least eighth grade.
- The student's family income should not exceed one lakh twenty thousand taka per year.
- Any student studying in a government or government-approved or government-aided school will be eligible for this opportunity.
- The student must be unmarried.
(K 2) The eligibility criteria for the one-time scholarship are:
- The student must be over eighteen years of age and under nineteen years of age on the date of application.
- The student must be studying in a registered institution in any subject like secondary, higher secondary, technical, vocational, sports, etc.
(K 3) The eligibility criteria for the monthly scholarship are:
- The applicant must be a graduate.
- Must have at least 45% marks in the graduation examination.
- Girls studying science will be given Rs. 2,500/- per month.
- Students of commerce and arts will be given Rs. 2,000/- per month.
- There is no upper age limit for this scholarship.
WB Kanyashree Prakalpa 2025 Scheme Structure
Annual Scholarship:
Rs. 1,000 per annum (initially Rs. 500), for unmarried girls aged 13-18 years who are enrolled in classes 8-12 or equivalent vocational courses.
One-time scholarship:
Rs. 25,000 once they are 18 years old, unmarried and pursuing further education, vocational training or sports.
Postgraduate Scholarship:
Rs. 2,500 for science students and Rs. 2,000 for girls in arts/commerce pursuing postgraduate studies.
Annual Family Income:
To apply for Kanyashree Prakalp, the students' annual family income should be a total of 1,20,000 taka, but if the family's annual income is more than this, then you cannot apply for the national scholarship.

Age Proof:

How to Apply for Kanyashree Prakalpa 2025:
Eligible candidates to apply for Kanyashree Scheme, first collect the application form from your school, college or Block Development Officer's office. If you do not have a bank account, open an application form in your name as the money will be sent directly to your account. Fill the form carefully with your personal, family, educational and bank details. Attach the necessary documents like your birth certificate, income proof, unmarried declaration and a copy of your bank passbook. If required, include disability or death certificate. Submit the filled form and documents to your school or college.
After verification by the authorities, if you are eligible, the money will be sent to your bank. You can track the status of your application online using your acknowledgement slip number or by checking your bank account.
