Ladakh All University List. Ladakh is a Union Territory of India. China invaded Ladakh during the Sino-Sikh War of 1841–1842. The inhabitants of the region are of Indo-Aryan and Tibetan origin. Ladakh is one of the sparsely populated regions of India. During this period, Ladakh played an important role in trade and cultural exchange with Tibet, Kashmir and other parts of Central Asia. Several Buddhist monasteries were built in Ladakh, which still attract tourists today.
