Maulana Azad National Fellowship (MANF) is a scholarship scheme for students belonging to minority communities. It is administered by the Ministry of Minority Affairs, Government of India and implemented through UGC. This fellowship is mainly for students belonging to Muslim, Sikh, Parsi, Buddhist and Christian communities who wish to pursue M.Phil./Ph.D. degree. Eligible students can apply online only. MANF Scholarship 2025 for Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for this fellowship, a candidate must meet the following conditions:

  • Must belong to any of the six notified minority communities. i.e. Buddhist, Christian, Jain, Muslim, Sikh, Zoroastrian (Parsi).

Must have passed UGC-NET or joint CSIR-UGC NET examination.

  • Must have taken admission in M.Phil./PhD or must have confirmed the same within 3 years of the award.
  • Annual family income should not exceed Rs. 6 lakhs.
  • Cannot be in receipt of any other fellowship/scholarship/employment simultaneously.
  • Employees of educational/government institutions are not eligible, even if they are on study leave.

Resident:

To apply for Maulana Azad National Scholarship, the candidate must belong to any of the six notified minority communities. For example: Buddhist, Christian, Jain, Muslim, Sikh, Zoroastrian (Parsi). Must have qualified in UGC-NET or joint CSIR-UGC NET examination. Must have taken admission in M.Phil/PhD or confirmed it within 3 years of the award and the annual family income should not exceed Rs. 6 lakh.

Annual Family Income:

To apply for Maulana Azad National Scholarship, the annual family income of the students should not exceed Rs. 6 lakh (6,00,000), but if the family income is more than this, then you cannot apply for Maulana Azad National Scholarship.

MANF Fellowship Amount:

Fellowship in Science Humanities and Social Science and Fellowship in Engineering & Technology -

  • JRF (1st 2 yrs): Rs. 31,000/month
  • SRF (Next 3 yrs): Rs. 35,000/month
  • Contingency for Humanities & Social Sciences -
  • JRF (1st 2 yrs): Rs. 10,000/month
  • SRF (Next 3 yrs): Rs. 20,500/month

Maulana Azad National Fellowship (MANF) 2025 Selection Process & Number of Slots

Total: 1000 slots per year

  • 750 for UGC-NET-JRF (Humanities, Social Sciences)
  • 250 for CSIR-NET-JRF (Science)
  • 30% reserved for women
  • Community-wise selection based on population proportion.

  • Based on merit in UGC-NET/JRF or CSIR-NET/JRF
  • Two rounds of selection annually (based on biannual NET)

Community-Wise Selection:

  • Students will be selected based on the population of each minority community.

Q1. Who can apply for this fellowship?
