Odisha Police Gurkha Sepoy Recruitment 2025 - Vacancy Details
There are a total of 135 vacancies for the post of Gurkha Sepoy in Odisha Special Armed Police 2nd Battalion, Jharsuguda for the year 2025. These posts are open only to genuine Gurkha male candidates from India or Nepal, with reservation for Gurkha ex-servicemen as per government rules.
OSAP Recruitment 2025 - Eligibility Criteria
Education:
- Minimum Class 7 pass (Preference for HSC pass candidates).
Nationality & Community:
- Must be a bonafide Gurkha from India or Nepal.
- Gurkhas in India need a Residential Certificate and a bonafide Gurkha certificate from a recognized organization.
- Gurkhas from Nepal need valid Nepal Citizenship.
Age Limit:
- 18 to 25 years as on 01.01.2025 (Relaxation for Ex-Army as per rules).

Physical Measurement:-
Height (marks awarded):
- 158–159 cm - 0 marks
- 160–162 cm - 1 mark
- 163–165 cm - 2 marks
- 166–168 cm - 3 marks
- 169–172 cm - 4 marks
- 173–175 cm - 5 marks
- 176–177 cm - 6 marks
- Above 178 cm - 8 marks.
Weight: minimum 50 kg (must meet).
Chest: un-expanded 79 cm, expanded 84 cm (minimum expansion 5 cm).
Physical Tests:
- 1.6 km Run - Within 4 min = 1 mark, 4–6 min = qualify (no mark).
- 5 km Cross Country - Must finish within 40 min (qualifying).
- Broad Jump - 3.66 m: 1st attempt = 2 marks, 2nd = 1 mark, 3rd = qualify (no mark).
- High Jump - 1.22 m: 1st attempt = 2 marks, 2nd = 1 mark, 3rd = qualify (no mark).
- Sports Marks: Recognized sports certificates (one event only) can add up to 10 marks depending on level of achievement.
- Viva-Voce: Candidates who pass all physical tests must attend an interview (viva-voce) conducted by the Selection Board; 10 marks.
- Odia Test: Gurkha candidates are exempted at recruitment, but Odia will be taught during training, and they must pass the Odia test within 3 years of service.
- The recruitment test will start from 17 September 2025 at the OSAP 2nd Battalion Parade Ground, Jharsuguda. Candidates must report by 07:00 AM on 15 September 2025 at the parade ground.
