Marshall Scholarship 2026 Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates must be a citizen of the United States of America at the time of application.
  • Must hold your first undergraduate degree from a four-year accredited U.S. college/university by September 2026.
  • GPA must be 3.7 or higher (no rounding; most recent GPA is used at application, final transcripts checked at interview).
  • Candidates must have graduated after April 2023.
  • Must not have studied at or received a degree from a UK university, nor completed GCSEs or A-Levels in the UK.

Resident:

Students must be US citizens and have completed their first undergraduate degree from an accredited four-year college or university in the United States by September 2026, with a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.7 (unrounded).  Candidates must have graduated after April 2023 and should not have studied for, or received a degree from, a UK university, nor taken GCSEs or A-Levels in the UK. Only those who are eligible to apply.

Marshall Scholarship 2026 Amount:

The Marshall Scholarship covers full tuition fees, provides a monthly living allowance (£1,378 outside London or £1,690 in London) and includes economy flights between the US and the UK at the start and end of the award (with additional mid-term travel for multi-year scholars). It also pays for visa fees, access to the UK National Health Service and provides an additional stipend of at least £3,000 to support research, leadership development and ambassadorial activities during the scholarship.

Marshall Scholarship 2026 Selection Process:

Candidates are evaluated based on academic merit, leadership potential, ambassadorial potential, and suitability for their chosen course and university. Applications are submitted online and reviewed at eight regional centers across the United States. In early to mid-November, shortlisted candidates are notified and invited to an interview – either in person (with limited travel reimbursement) or virtually if they are based abroad. At the interview stage, candidates must provide proof of U.S. citizenship and academic transcripts. Final results are announced shortly after the interview, and successful applicants must confirm acceptance within five days.

Marshall Scholarship 2026 How to Apply: 

Candidates must complete an online application and submit it to their graduate institution, which will determine whether to approve it. Approved applications will include an endorsement letter and must be submitted to the regional committee. Candidates may apply to only one region and for either a one-year or two-year scholarship (not both). The application must include three letters of recommendation and be approved by the president, provost, or academic dean. Applicants must submit their complete application by September 16, 2025 (5:00 p.m., institution time zone) and the final submission to the institution must be made by September 18, 2025 (5:00 p.m., institution time zone).
