Rhodes Scholarship 2026; The Rhodes Scholarship is one of the world's most prestigious international scholarships, founded in 1902 by Cecil Rhodes. Rhodes Scholarship 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Constituency:

  • Must apply under India (since your nationality/education is linked to India).

Nationality:

  • Must be an Indian citizen with a valid Indian passport/proof of citizenship.
  • Not eligible if you only hold a PIO/OCI card.
  • Refugees/asylum seekers in India can also apply.

Education / Residency:

  • Must have studied in India for at least 4 of the last 10 years.
  • Plus, you must meet one of these two conditions:
  • Passed 10th or 12th board exam in India / Currently in the final year of, or completed, an undergraduate degree at an Indian university.

Age Criteria:

  • Regular candidates: Aged 18–23 on 1 October 2025 (Born between 2 October 2001 and 1 October 2007)
  • Older candidates: Aged under 27 on 1 October 2025 (Born after 1 October 1998) and completed undergraduate degree requirements on or after 1 October 2024.

Resident:

To be eligible for the Rhodes Scholarship (India), you must have studied in India for at least 4 years out of the last 10 years. You must also have completed your 10th or 12th standard (school leaving examination) in India, or be in the final year of a bachelor's degree, or have already completed a bachelor's degree from a recognized university in India.

Rhodes Scholarship 2026 Amount:

The Rhodes Scholarship covers the full course fees at Oxford University and provides an annual living allowance of £19,800 (approximately £1,650 per month) for the 2024/25 academic year, which scholars use to cover accommodation and other living costs. It also covers the Oxford application fee, student visa fees, the International Health Surcharge (IHS), two economy-class flights (to and from the UK at the start and end of their studies), and a permanent allowance on arrival. Those who go on to a second Oxford course also receive support for visa renewals and IHS fees.

Copies of the following documents must be uploaded:

  • Upload birth certificate or valid passport showing you meet the age criteria.
  • Upload Indian passport or equivalent proof of Indian citizenship (Voter ID, etc.).
  • PIO or OCI cards are not accepted.
  • University/College transcripts showing grades achieved (current or completed studies).
  • 10th and 12th (or equivalent) transcripts/marksheets from school or pre-university.
  • If studied outside India, provide evidence of 4+ years of formal education in India and completion of a school leaving exam in India.
  • Fill in your CV within the application form (no separate upload).
  • Upload a head-and-shoulders color photo (jpg format).
