Tamil Nadu Scholarship is a government initiative aimed at supporting students belonging to Backward Classes (BC), Most Backward Classes (MBC), Denotified Communities (DNC), Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST) and differently abled categories residing in Tamil Nadu. Tamil Nadu Scholarship 2026 All Scholarship Name & Other Details

R.I.M.C. Dehradun Scholarship -

R.I.M.C. Dehradun Scholarship is provided by the Directorate of Collegiate Education, Government of Tamil Nadu. This scholarship is for students from Tamil Nadu who are studying at the State Indian Military College (RIMC), Dehradun. The selected students will receive a monthly financial assistance of Rs. 4,000.

Eligibility:

  • Applicants must be a resident of Tamil Nadu.
  • Must be a genuine student admitted to the State Indian Military College, Dehradun.

Amount:

  • Rs. 4,000 per month

EVR Nagammai Scholarship, Tamil Nadu -

The EVR Nagammai Scholarship is offered by the Department of Collegiate Education, Government of Tamil Nadu to support girls pursuing a Postgraduate degree in Arts and Science from a recognized college in Tamil Nadu. The aim of the scholarship is to promote higher education among women by providing variable financial assistance based on merit.

Eligibility:

  • Pursuing a Master's degree (M.A. or M.Sc.) in Arts or Science from a recognized college in Tamil Nadu.

Central Sector Scheme of Scholarship (CSSS) -

Central Sector Scheme of Scholarship (CSSS) is provided by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India. This scholarship is for students who have passed Higher Secondary (Class XII) with more than 60% marks and are now studying in the first year of Undergraduate (UG). It is provided on the basis of community and subject category, focusing on meritorious students from various streams.

Eligibility:

  • Applications are invited for UG first year students.
  • Must have secured more than 60% marks in Class 12 (Higher Secondary) from a recognized Board (State/Central).

Amount:

  • UG courses: Rs.10,000/- per year
  • PG courses: Rs.20,000/- per year

Scholarship to Son and Daughter of Differently Abled Persons, Tamil Nadu -

Scholarships for sons and daughters of disabled persons are provided by the Commissionerate for Welfare of the Deferably Able, Government of Tamil Nadu. The aim of this scholarship is to support the children of disabled persons who hold valid identity cards issued by the Disabled Welfare Board.

Eligibility:

  • The applicant must be the son or daughter of a differently abled person who holds a valid Identity Card issued by the Welfare Board of Differently Abled, Tamil Nadu.
  • The student must be pursuing studies in Class 11th, 12th, ITI, Polytechnic diploma courses, or any Undergraduate or Postgraduate course in a recognized institution.

Scholarship for Differently Abled Students from Class 9th Onwards, Tamil Nadu -

Scholarships for students with disabilities from class 9 onwards are provided by the Commissionerate for Welfare of Differently Able, Government of Tamil Nadu. The aim of this scholarship is to support students with disabilities studying from class 9 to postgraduate level, including courses like vocational, professional, medical and engineering.

Eligibility:

  • Must be studying from Class 9 up to postgraduate level. Courses eligible include vocational, professional, medical, and engineering.
  • Must have obtained at least 40% marks in the previous qualifying examination.

Amount:

  • Rs. 7,000/- per annum

Scholarship for Differently Abled Students towards Purchase of Books and Note Books, Tamil Nadu -

Scholarships for purchase of books and notebooks for disabled students are provided by the Commissionerate for Welfare of Differently Able, Government of Tamil Nadu. This scheme is to help disabled students studying from class I to class VIII in Tamil Nadu. Under this scholarship, they are given financial assistance to purchase books and notebooks.

Eligibility:

  • Applicable to students with disabilities.
  • Students studying from Class 1st to 8th.

Amount:

  • Class 1 to 5: Rs. 100/- per month
  • Class 6 to 8: Rs. 300/- per month 

Free Education Schemes for BC, MBC & DNC students, Tamil Nadu -

The free education scheme is provided by the Backward Classes, Most Backward Classes and Minorities Welfare Department of the Government of Tamil Nadu for BC, MBC and DNC students who are pursuing a 3-year degree course, polytechnic diploma course or professional degree course from a recognized institution.

Eligibility:

  • This scholarship is open to students of BC/MBC/DNC category who are pursuing 3 years degree or polytechnic diploma course or professional degree course.
  • The annual income of the family should not exceed Rs. 50,000.

Amount:

  • Rs. 10,000/- per annum

Incentive Scheme for Rural MBC/DNC Girl Students, Tamil Nadu -

The Rural MBC/DNC Student Incentive Scheme is run by the Backward Classes and Most Backward Classes and Minorities Welfare Department, Government of Tamil Nadu. This scheme supports rural student students belonging to the Most Backward Classes (MBC) and Unnotified Communities (DNC) who are studying from class III to class VI.

Eligibility:

  • This scheme is applicable to rural girl students of MBC/DNC category who are studying in class III to VI.
  • The annual income of the family should not exceed Rs. 25,000.

Amount:

  • Class 3rd to 5th: Rs. 500/ per annum
  • Class 6th: 1,000/- per annum

Thanthai Periyar Memorial Award, Tamil Nadu -

Thanthai Periyar Memorial Award is given by the Backward Classes and Most Backward Classes and Minorities Welfare Department, Government of Tamil Nadu. This award is designed to support meritorious students belonging to BC, MBC and DNC categories.

Eligibility:

  • This scheme is open only to BC/MBC/DNC students.
  • The top two boys and two girls from each district of Tamil Nadu who have secured the highest marks in class 10th and are pursuing a polytechnic diploma can apply for this scholarship.

Amount:

Rs. 3,000/- per annum for three years.

Perarignar Anna Memorial Award, Tamil Nadu -

Perarigna Anna Memorial Award is a scholarship scheme provided by the Government of Tamil Nadu through the Backward Classes, Most Backward Classes and Minorities Welfare Department. The award is given to the top two boys and top two girls from each district of Tamil Nadu who belong to BC, MBC, or DNC category and have secured the highest marks in their Class 10th examination and are pursuing a Polytechnic Diploma course.

Eligibility:

  • Must belong to a Backward Class (BC), Most Backward Class (MBC), or Denotified Community (DNC).
  • The top two boys and two girls from each district of Tamil Nadu who have secured the highest marks in class 12th and are pursuing professional degree courses (Medicine, Engineering, Law, etc.).

Amount:

  • Rs.3,000 per annum for four years or till the normal completion of the course.

Vidyadhan Scholarship Program -

The Vidyadhan Scholarship Scheme, offered by the Sarojini Damodaran Foundation, supports meritorious students from economically weaker sections of the states of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Kerala and Telangana. Students who have completed Class 10/SSLC from any of these states are eligible to apply.

Eligibility:

  • The applicant must be a resident of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Kerala, or Telangana.
  • Must have passed Class 10th / SSLC from any of the above-mentioned states.
  • The annual family income should not exceed Rs. 2 lakh.

Amount:

  • Class 11th & 12th: Rs. 6,000/- per annum.

National Talent Search Exam NTSE -

The National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) is conducted by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) to support talented students. This scholarship is available to students studying in class 10, who are below 18 years of age, including students of open schools or distance learning. Students who qualify the NTSE examination receive financial assistance throughout their academic career.

Eligibility:

  • Students of class 10 can apply for this scholarship.
  • Students studying through open schools or distance learning can apply even if they are under 18 years of age.

Amount:

  • Class 11 and 12: Rs. 1,250 per month
  • UG and PG students, and PhD students: Rs. 2,000 per month

Free Education Schemes for SC / ST students, Tamil Nadu -

The Department of Adi Dravidian and Tribal Welfare, Government of Tamil Nadu, provides the Chief Minister's Merit Award to support SC/ST students in pursuing higher education. Under this scheme, every year, 1,000 boys and 1,000 girls from Adi Dravidian, Tribal and Adi Dravidian communities are selected on the basis of their marks in the Plus 2 public examination. Each selected student is given Rs. 3,000 per year for 5 years.

Eligibility:

1000 boys and 1000 girls from the Adi Dravidian, Tribal and Adi Dravidian communities who have converted to Christianity in the order of their marks in the Plus 2 public examination, if they continue their education, will be given an award of Rs. 3,000 annually for 5 years.

Amount:

  • Rs.3000/- per annum for 5 years.

Post metric scholarship for BC / MBC/ DNC -

Post Matric Scholarship for BC, MBC and DNC Students is a financial assistance scheme provided by the Backward Classes and Most Backward Classes and Minorities Welfare Department, Government of Tamil Nadu. It aims to help Backward Classes (BC), Most Backward Classes (MBC) and Denotified Communities (DNC) students to pursue higher education after completing class 10. Eligible students studying in higher secondary, diploma, undergraduate, postgraduate, professional or vocational courses in recognized institutions can apply for this scholarship.

Eligibility:

To apply for the Post Matric Scholarship for BC, MBC, and DNC students, the student must be a resident of Tamil Nadu and belong to Backward Class (BC), Most Backward Class (MBC), or Denotified Community (DNC). The student must be studying in a recognized school or college in class XI or higher like diploma, graduation, post-graduation, or professional course. For BC students, the annual family income should not exceed Rs.2 lakh, whereas for MBC and DNC students, there is generally no income limit. The student must have passed the previous examination to be eligible.

Post metric scholarship for SC/ST -

This scholarship provides fee waiver to Adi Dravidian, Tribal and Adi Dravidian Christian converts pursuing higher education in Tamil Nadu. The scheme covers students admitted under both government quota and management quota in self-financing colleges for professional, medical, paramedical, engineering, teacher training and arts and science courses.

Eligibility:

Students belonging to Adi Dravidian, Tribal communities and Adi Dravidian community converted to Christianity are eligible for this scholarship. It is given to students joining self-financing colleges under both government quota and management quota. Students must be studying full-time professional courses like engineering, medical, paramedical, teacher education and arts and science courses within Tamil Nadu. Admission must be through proper counselling or selection process.

Chief Minister Research Fellowship -

Chief Minister's Research Fellowship is provided by the Department of Collegiate Education, Tamil Nadu to support students pursuing regular PhD programmes in government, government-aided colleges and universities. Every year, 180 scholars are selected for this fellowship, which provides financial assistance to focus on their research work without financial burden.

Eligibility:

  • The applicant must be a resident of Tamil Nadu.
  • Should have admission to a regular Ph.D. program in a Government College, Government-Aided College, or University in Tamil Nadu.
