Meghalaya Scholarship 2026 All Scholarship Name & Other Details
Central Sector Scheme of Scholarship for College and University Students -
The Central Sector Scholarship Scheme for College and University Students is a government scholarship provided by the Ministry of Education to support meritorious students from economically weaker families. This scholarship is given to those students who secure top 20% ranks in the Class XII board examination and are pursuing regular undergraduate or postgraduate courses in recognized colleges or universities in India.
Eligibility Criteria:
Top 20% (80th percentile) in Class 12 Board Examination (CBSE/State/ICSE).
Admission in full-time UG/PG course (including technical, professional, medical, integrated and dual degrees).
The institution should be recognized as a UGC Section 2(f)/12B or a scholarship recipient institution of national importance.
Annual family income Rs.4.5 lakh.
Not being in receipt of any other scholarship or fee from the State/Central Government.
Aadhaar or equivalent ID and a bank account in the name of the student are required.
Scholarship Amount:
- UG (General & technical) (3 years): Rs.10,000 per annum
- UG professional/integrated (4th year): Rs.20,000 per annum
- Integrated UG-PG programs (4th & 5th years): Rs.20,000 per annum
- PG courses (2 years): Rs.20,000 per annum
Post-Matric Scholarship to students belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.(CSS) -
The Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme provides financial assistance to Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) students for their education beyond Class 10 (Post-Matric/Secondary level). It aims to provide them with fees and maintenance allowance to complete their higher education.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Must be an Indian citizen.
- Must belong to Scheduled Caste (SC) or Scheduled Tribe (ST).
- Must have passed Matriculation (Class 10) or equivalent.
- Must be pursuing recognized Post-Matric or Post-Secondary courses.
- Parents’/guardians’ annual income should not exceed Rs.2.5 lakh from all sources.

Pre-Matric Scholarships for Schedule Caste/Schedule Tribe Student Studying in Class IX & X.(CSS) -
This scholarship is to help students from Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) who are studying in class IX and X. The aim is to encourage them to continue their education after class X.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Student must belong to Scheduled Caste (SC) or Scheduled Tribe (ST).
- Student must be a regular full-time student in a government school or a school recognized by government/CBSE/State Board.
- Scholarship for a class will be given only once. If the student fails, no scholarship for repeating the same class.
- Parents' annual income should not exceed Rs. 2.00 lakh.
Scholarship Amount:
Monthly Scholarship (10 months)
Day Scholar: Rs.150/month
Hosteller: Rs.350/month

Post-Matric Scholarship to students belonging to the Minority Communities (CSS) -
This scholarship helps students from minority communities (Muslim, Christian, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, Parsi) to pursue higher education after class 10, be it in school, college, university or vocational institution. It provides course fees and a monthly maintenance allowance.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Belong to Muslim, Christian, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, or Parsi community.
- Scored at least 50% marks in the last exam.
- Only two students per family can get this scholarship.
- Student must study in India at recognized schools/colleges/institutes.
- Family income must be less than Rs.2 lakh/year from all sources.
Scholarship Amount:
For Class 11 & Class 12 (General Courses)

- Hosteller: Up to Rs.7,000 per year
- Day Scholar: Up to Rs.7,000 per year
For Class 11 & Class 12 (Technical/Vocational Courses)

Merit-Cum-means based Scholarship to students belonging to Minority Communities (CSS) -
This scholarship helps poor and meritorious students from minority communities (Muslim, Christian, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, Parsi) to study professional and technical courses like engineering, medicine, management, law, etc. It provides financial assistance towards tuition fees and maintenance expenses.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Must belong to minority communities (Muslim, Christian, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, or Parsi).
- Minimum 50% marks in last exam (Higher Secondary or Graduation).
- Students must have taken admission in professional or technical courses.
- Family’s total annual income should be less than Rs.2.50 lakh.
Scholarship Amount:
Maintenance Allowance (10 months) -
- Hosteller: Rs.10,000/per annum (Rs.1000 pm)
- Day Scholar: Rs.5000/- per annum (Rs.500 pm)

Pre-matric Scholarship to students belonging to Minority Communities (CSS) -
This scholarship is for minority communities (Muslim, Sikh, Christian, Buddhist, Jain and Parsi (Zoroastrian). It is given to help students continue their school education from class I to class X. It helps reduce the financial burden on parents and helps children complete school.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Must belong to a minority community.
- Studying in Class 1 to Class 10 in India.
- Scored 50% marks or above in the last annual exam.
- Only 2 students from one family can get this scholarship.
- Must be a regular student in school.
- Family income should be less than Rs.1 lakh per year.

This scheme is specially designed to help poor students from border villages near the India-Bangladesh border. Due to economic problems in these areas, many students cannot continue their higher education. This scholarship provides financial assistance (stipend/subsidy) to study up to degree level including B.Ed. and M.Ed. courses.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Must belong to a notified border village (List available with Border Area Department).
- Both father and mother must earn from the border area.
- If the parents are working in government service, the student is not eligible.
- Higher Secondary, Degree courses, B.Ed., M.Ed. (only if not in service) are covered courses.
State Merit Scholarship -
State Merit Scholarships are provided by the Education Department of Meghalaya to support meritorious students of Meghalaya for higher education in general, technical, postgraduate and research courses.
Eligibility Criteria:
For All Categories -
- Must be studying in a recognized school/college in Meghalaya.
- Must have passed exams in first attempt.
- Must have regular attendance.
- Students who passed in earlier years (not the current year) are not eligible.
Specific Eligibility:
- Junior Scholarship: Students who passed Class 10 (HSLC or ICSE) with First Division.
- Senior Scholarship: Students who passed Class 12 (Pre-University/ISC/HSSLC) with First Division.
- Post Graduate Scholarship: Students pursuing PG courses in subjects decided by the department.
- Research Scholarship: Students registered in M.Phil or Ph.D. courses at recognized institutions.

Post Matric Merit Scholarship for Tribal Students -
This scholarship is provided by the Government of Meghalaya to help meritorious tribal students pursue higher education (general or technical courses) after class 10. It is to support their education through financial assistance, to encourage them to continue their studies in colleges, universities or technical institutions anywhere in India.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Applicant must be a Permanent Resident of Meghalaya.
- Must belong to a Scheduled Tribe (ST) community recognized in Meghalaya.
- Must be studying a regular full-time post-secondary course in any recognized institution.
- Must have passed the latest qualifying exam in the current year of award.
- Should not be working full-time or studying part-time/correspondence/private courses.
Scholarship Amount:
Junior College (After Class 10) - Rs.200 per month
Senior College (After Class 12) - Rs.300 per month
Post Graduate Course - Rs.400 per month
Post Graduate Research - Rs.1,000 per month
Meghalaya Tribal Students’ Book Grant (Post-matric Education) -
This scholarship is called Book Grant for Meghalaya Tribal Students (Post-Matric Education). It is given to tribal students of Meghalaya who are studying in post-matric courses (after class 10) such as class 11, class 12, degree, postgraduate, or research studies (excluding technical/vocational courses). The objective is to help them buy books required for their studies.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Must be a permanent resident of Meghalaya.
- Must belong to Khasi, Jaintia, Garo, or any other tribal community recognized by the Government.
- Must have secured at least 60% marks in the previous examination.
- Must be studying a regular course (not technical/vocational).
- Must be studying in a recognized institution anywhere in India.
- Should not be employed in any government job.

Free Studentship -
Free Studentship Scheme is a financial assistance program for students in Meghalaya. Under this scheme, tuition fees and other compulsory fees are waived (free) for eligible students. The fee waived is generally equal to the amount provided under the Post Matric Scholarship Scheme.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Permanent Resident: Must be a permanent resident of Meghalaya.
- Must belong to the SC (Scheduled Caste) or ST (Scheduled Tribe) of Meghalaya.
- Must be pursuing a regular course in a recognized institution.
- Parents/Guardians must be Indian citizens.
- Should not be receiving:
- Post Matric Scholarship (for SC/ST).
- Any other central or state scholarship.
- Must not be employed in any government or private job.
- Should not have repeated the same class more than once.
Scheme of Scholarship for Sainik Schools -
Sainik School Goalpara offers a special scholarship for students who are permanent residents of Meghalaya. This scholarship is designed to help students from low-income families who are studying in the school.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Student must be studying in Sainik School Goalpara.
- Parents/Guardian must be a permanent resident of Meghalaya.
- Family income must fall under the limits mentioned below.
Scholarship Amount:
Rs.20,000 – Full scholarship for students whose parents earn below Rs.5,000 per month.
Rs.10,000 – Half scholarship for students whose parents earn between Rs.5,000 and Rs.8,000 per month.
No scholarship – For families earning above Rs.8,000 per month.
